Irish Ports set to host the 4th annual Irish Port Safety Week

On the 21st of October, Irish Port Safety Week (IPSW) will commence across the Ports of Ireland. Now in its 4th year running IPSW focuses on a range of safety related topics and focus areas throughout the Ports of Ireland.

The aim of this week is for the port authorities to work collaboratively to highlight and enhance collective safety responsibility and awareness for all port users, with events planned under differing themes throughout the week.

Some of the activities taking place will involve Training Simulators, First Aid training, Rescue from Height, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) awareness campaigns, Water Safety Training and much more.

Irish Port Safety Week (an initiative of the Irish Port Safety Forum), has traditionally been run in line with European Safety Week which is supported by the HSA and is this year focusing on Safety in the Digital Age.

The IPSF is delighted to have the support of the H.S.A. (Health and Safety Authority) for Irish Port Safety Week.

This year the HSA will once again lend their support and will be on site in some of the ports to help reinforce the message around safety in the workplace.

You can follow events on the social media sites of the participating ports #irishportsafetyweek

Commenting on the upcoming health and safety events CEO at Port of Waterford David Sinnott says, “The health and safety of all port users is paramount and the events planned for this week serve to create greater awareness and to enhance skills and competencies to ensue a safer work environment for all”
